Premiered in 1969, the Pininfarina-designed Ferrari Sigma Grand Prix was developed to advance safety in Formula 1 racing.
The Sigma Grand Prix may have made its world debut on March 13, 1969, at the Geneva Motor Show, but even today it looks incredibly modern. Designed by Paolo Martin and presented at Geneva as a “future car,” the Ferrari Sigma Grand Prix was built by Pininfarina in conjunction with Revue Automobile, along with the backing of Enzo Ferrari, Fiat, and Mercedes-Benz. It was developed to address the lack of safety at that time in Formula 1.
Several of the features found on race cars today—such as a driver safety cell, onboard fire suppression, multilayer fuel tanks made from plastic, safety belts, and sidepods (to prevent interlocking wheels)—were first introduced with the Sigma.
As a concept car, it was never intended to compete in Formula One; however, the Sigma was built for speed—lots of it. A 436 hp, three-liter V-12 engine is responsible for moving the Sigma Grand Prix’s 1,300 pounds. Indeed, this car was designed to shatter lap times without shattering the human behind the wheel in the event of an accident.

Ferrari is one of the most valuable brands in the world.
Ferrari – the Italian supercar maker and Formula One racing operation – is worth $30 billion.
Unlike many of its rivals, Ferrari is a racing operation first and car company second.
Ferrari was founded as a racing team with the sale of road cars as a means to fund the racing operation.
Ferrari wasn’t always the global luxury brand that’s now being traded in New York. The company’s early days as a maker of racing cars were rather humble, and it took an Italian-American racing star named Luigi Chinetti to begin the transformation into a purveyor of glamorous supercars for the world’s well-heeled.
In 1955 Giovanni Agnelli bought a very rare Ferrari 375 America Pininfarina chassis 0355 GT – custom made especially for him
The car was the 12th and last of the 375 America built, and had a 4.9L Lampredi V12 engine and 3 weber carbs. Sadly Agnelli would only keep the car for four years, before selling it on in 1959. Who would have guessed that only 14 years after he ordered this Ferrari – Giovanni Agnelli would take control of Ferrari through FIAT.
Maranello, 28 February 2019 – Ferrari has revealed the first official photographs of the F8 Tributo, the new mid-rear engined sports car that represents the highest expression of the company’s classic two-seater berlinetta. The name is an homage to both the model’s uncompromising layout and to the engine that powers it – with a massive 720 cv and a record specific power output of 185 cv/l, it is the most powerful V8 in Prancing Horse history for a non-special series car and sets the benchmark not just for turbos, but for engines across the board.
The 3902 cc V8 won “Best Engine” in the International Engine of the Year awards three years running in 2016, 2017 and 2018 and, in addition, in 2018, was awarded the title of the best engine of the last two decades. As these prestigious awards demonstrate, in the automotive world, Ferrari’s V8 engine is seen as the very epitome of sportiness and driving pleasure. This is particularly the case when it is mid-rear-mounted in a two-seater.

Un modello a sé stante. Questo nuovo modello, a quanto si apprende, non sarà la variante estrema di un’altra Ferrari, ma uno a sé stante, destinato a un ciclo vita sul mercato analogo a quello del resto della gamma di Maranello.
